A Warning -- against SpongeBob????

Have you read the article on CNN about how some right-wing-fundie groups think that a new video coming out using SpongeBob, Barney, and other famous and popular cartoon characters, promoting diversity is actually a plot to turn children gay, or at least to "promote homosexuality"?????

I can't for the life of me get this way of thinking. How screwed up can you be!!! Diversity is now a bad word... it now means that people are trying to make other people gay. I swear to the Gods... how does a person (who is suppose to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ) wake up in the morning and think this way? I tell ya... the Christians I'm friends with don't even sound like they are from the same planet as these fundies.

Life is too short folks -- A video promoting diversity is an excellent idea. Maybe it will promote FREE-THINKERS, and people that are COMPASSIONATE, and ACCEPTING of our differences instead of people that find Satan behind everything that exists. Can you say scape-goat? Can you say no personal responsibility? Can you say that homosexuality isn't a disease, nor is it evil, nor can it be "caught?"

Why not read what the company that is producing this video is all about instead of just casting stones? I think they are on the right track personally.

This is the tolerance pledge on their website which has caused all this fuss... I think it rocks:

"Tolerance is a personal decision that comes from a belief that every person is a treasure. I believe that America's diversity is its strength. I also recognize that ignorance, insensitivity and bigotry can turn that diversity into a source of prejudice and discrimination.

To help keep diversity a wellspring of strength and make America a better place for all, I pledge to have respect for people whose abilities, beliefs, culture, race, sexual identity or other characteristics are different from my own."

Who would have ever thought that embracing diversity would be so darn deviant in the year 2005???? What have people learned? I tell ya.... I think we're moving backwards in so many ways.
